So far these buds are meeting my expectations. From the mix reviews here I would suggest it just depends on getting a good set.- $63 dollars for earbuds that were originally priced at $150. Good to great value here.- Power output via bluetooth on my phone does not allow you to really crank the volume up. For me the volume is adequate enough. The sound shines via gaming, using a dac, or with PC usage.- The app via the phone does not allow much EQ possibilities. Not a deal breaker for me.- Power output via the usb-c 2.4g "dongle" allows much more abilities with sound volume.- The mic is much better than I thought it would be. From taking calls to gaming it does a great job for being earbuds.- Battery life via Bluetooth usage is great. I did not run into any issues.- Bluetooth connectivity issues. There were no issues.- Battery life via usb-c dongle was fine. I used them for about 5 hours in my longest sitting with these buds. Even if one would go longer you just pop them in the case for 15 to 30 minutes and you're good to go again.- Connectivity issues via the 2.4g dongle. I did notice a couple issues here. I would not say it dropped connection. I took it more as a stutter. It occurred maybe 2 or 3 times in 5 hours of usage.- Comfort. This is very subjective. For me I find them very comfortable. There was no long term usage where they irritated my ears.In the end I'd recommend these. They're a great budget gaming earbud for the casual gamer.
After a month in the left earbud just died without warning, only the right continues to function even after charging. HyperX makes decent mics, but anything for listening especially wireless is not good. Wouldn’t recommend this product.
The product is good and performs well, if you can get it for around $50 I'd say it's worth. However it's insanely uncomfortable. Probably the most uncomfortable earbuds I've ever used and it's hard to get a good fit with them but they sound really decent.
I haven't tried them with my phone, but that's what most of the complaints about these seem to be related to. I only use them with my computer for watching shows and playing video games, so I never touch the buttons or move around while wearing them. For their original price (~$150 US) I understand why some people weren't overly impressed with them in their Amazon reviews, but at their current price of $50 they're an incredible deal. These are the best earbuds I've tried so far, I was looking for a earbud that was low latency so they worked for gaming as well as regular PC use. 2.4ghz wireless is much better than bluetooth for this, so I primarily tested earbuds that were 2.4ghz.- I tried the Vega T1 earbuds ($60) but hated them. They made everything sound empty because the mids were weak and the bass was way too heavy.- I also tried the Sony INZONE buds but found them to be way over-priced for their drawbacks. The biggest drawback was their price, second, they have a noticeable background hiss regardless of the mode they were set to (ANC, passthrough, passive). The sound was otherwise great. But they cost $180 as of this review, and compared to a wired option like the KZ ZS 10's ($40) there just isn't enough value in the Sonys to not just go with the KZ's.These HyperX earbuds, sound just as good if not better than the Sony buds for a fraction of the cost. They are cheaper than many options out there which is pretty wild. These earbuds have a very satisfying sound to them. They sound almost as good as my normal gaming headphones (HyperX Cloud Flight S). They also feel really well made.According to some other reviewers, these earbuds don't last long, so that could be an issue down the road, but those reviews exist for all the other earbuds I tried too, so it's hard to say. I'll update this review in the future if they do fail.If you're looking for a pair of earbuds that you use just for sitting at your computer, I can't recommend these enough.Follow up after a year: Still a 5/5There was a small issue with high frequency audio sounding crackly, like the compression was messed up or something. But re-installing the drivers fixed that. These things are rad.(Start > Type "Device Manager" and open it > Select "Audio inputs and outputs" > right click the one for Hyper X buds and select uninstall. Unplug the dongle and plug it back in again (this will reinstall the driver).
I purchased these earbuds for about 80 or so dollars, because I don't like the feeling of a cumbersome headset sitting on my head and warming my ears all day. Just as well, I wanted something that was more portable so I could more easily travel with them whenever I brought my laptop anyplace. I can honestly say that I was not at all disappointed.First there's connectivity. You get a choice of Bluetooth (recommended for connecting your phone), or 2.4ghz wireless if don't mind a dongle, and you'd like to avoid the input latency that Bluetooth entails. After trying both solutions, I've had little to no problems with the quality of my connection. Though I will warn you that one should be connecting the 2.4ghz dongle to a usb 3.0 port or higher (2.0 is simply not enough, and it WILL effect your audio quality in addition to killing DTS Surround Sound). Then we come to audio quality. Honestly, it's surprising how much bass they can pack into earbuds these days, as these things can really pack a surprising amount of punch. Just as well, they don't feel over-tuned for bass, rather they give you that punch without overwhelming the rest of the audio. All in all, compared to all the earbuds I've tried (comparing to Soundcore Liberties, and Surface Earbuds), these easily sound the best out of all of them.Beyond that, in terms of positional audio, so long as you download the DTS Sound Unbound audio utility from the Windows Store, I've never heard anything like it. DTS Headphone X is just phenomenal when it comes to positional accuracy, and I found myself relying on it to great effect whilst searching for Seeker's Tokens in Dragon's Dogma 2.Battery life is also great. I've played many a marathon gaming session (too many), and have only run low on battery about twice or so. Just as well, they can be popped back into the case for an extra charge or two before needing to charge the case itself. No complaints here.Comfort-wise, they are in-ear domes, so they do block out a fair amount of noise. Though they do not feature ANC. However unlike most in-ear domes, they do not hurt my ears even after several hours of use. They can hurt my ears eventually, but that's only after about 8+ hours used in a day, and let's face it I probably shouldn't be plugged in that long anyway. Of course, due to the finicky shape of the human ear, your milage may very well vary on this account, because no two ears are built the same. Then comes build quality, and I have no complaints on this front. They are made of plastic, but what earphone isn't. They have a nice matte finish, and the case is small and pill-shaped (made larger if you keep it in the silicone cover the case ships in). All in all, they are nice and sturdy, and I have no illusions of them falling apart on me anytime soon.Lastly, I do have to mention that I am on my second pair of these earbuds. This is because on the first pair, one of the earbuds mysteriously stopped pairing altogether, and no matter what I did to try and fix them, nothing helped. However, I contacted HyperX, and they shipped me out a replacement at no charge. They were easy to get through to, and just as well easy to work with. Furthermore, the new pair has worked flawlessly without issue, and good customer service is definitely a plus.In the end, this is a great pair of earbuds for a great price (again, I purchased at about 80$), and I would definitely recommend them to anyone who does not want to toast their ears with a bulky pair of earmuffs. It's just a great audio solution!
